My journey to Japan in 2019 was an experience that I will cherish for a long time. The pandemic had kept me away from this incredible country for more than three years, but finally, in March 2023, I had the opportunity to return. I was fortunate enough to arrive during the cherry blossom season. Everywhere I turned, there were beautiful pink and white blossoms, in the heart of cities and landscapes alike. This time, I got to explore lesser-known areas of Japan. Visiting Kanazawa, the birthplace of Daisetz Suzuki, was an opportunity to learn more about the life and teachings of this renowned philosopher and author. Suzuki is considered one of the foremost interpreters of Zen Buddhism in the West, and his works have had a profound impact on the understanding and practice of Zen in modern times. Another highlight was Koyasan, the birthplace of Japanese Buddhism. Wandering deep within the sacred forest and the many tombstones of Okunoin, one can sense the profound spirituality and reverence that permeates the air. As you walk through the forest, the towering cedar trees create a natural canopy overhead, and the sound of running water from nearby streams provides a soothing backdrop to the solemn atmosphere. The tombstones, some of which are hundreds of years old, are adorned with offerings from visitors, such as coins, incense, and prayer beads. It is a place of deep cultural significance and a testament to the enduring power of spiritual connection. Each photograph tells a unique story, capturing the beauty of the cherry blossoms, the majesty of Mount Fuji, the tranquility of Kanazawa, the spirituality of Koyasan, the grace of Kyoto. I can only hope to visit Japan again soon. Camera: Nikon D3500 Lens: Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM Editing: Adobe Lightroom
